Facial Implant Surgery in Cairns

There are two types of facial implants performed by Dr Nita Ling, Cheek implants and Chin implants:

Cheek implant surgery is one of the most popular types of facial surgery. Cheek implants elevate the cheekbones and give your face a more symmetrical, youthful appearance. Dr Ling uses cheek implants to improve and enhance facial contours. Frequently, cheek implants will help provide a more harmonious balance to your face and overall facial features so that you feel better about the way you look. Facial implants can produce some remarkable changes. Problems rarely occur, but you need to be informed about such possibilities. Dr Ling will spend time with you discussing all of the implant options available and choosing which one would be right for you during your initial consultation.

A chin implant reshapes the chin by inserting an implant in front, underneath or to the sides of the bone of the chin. Chin implant surgery, also known as chin augmentation, is often done together with rhinoplasty or a full face-lift . Chin augmentation can also be combined with a neck lift to remove fat deposits from underneath the chin and around the neck.

Chin implants can balance a person's facial profile and correct a 'weak' jawline.

Chin implants are especially popular with men as they can give a much more masculine appearance.

Insertion of a chin implant usually takes around one hour. During the procedure, Dr Ling inserts the chosen implant (shape and size) into a pocket over the front of the jawbone. The incision made to insert the implant is placed inside the mouth (along the lower lip) or in the skin just under the chin area.

Usually, the chin is taped after surgery to minimise swelling. Sutures in the skin will be removed in seven days. If an intra-oral incision is used, the sutures will dissolve.

If you have been considering chin implant surgery in Cairns, schedule a consultation with Dr Ling. We can then determine together whether you are a good candidate for the surgery and discuss all possible outcomes with you.
